Mr. Dennis D. Munchel was elected to the Board of Directors of the U.S. Marshals Survivors Benefit Fund in June 2016.  As an active duty employee of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), he serves as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the USMS.

Dennis Munchel is originally from York, PA.  He graduated from Nichols College in Dudley, MA, with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  In 2002, he entered on duty with the U.S. Marshals Service as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the Southern District of New York in New York City.  He later transferred to the District of New Jersey and was promoted to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal.  Eventually, he transferred to Florida serving as a Supervisory Inspector on the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, Investigative Operations Division.  He was then promoted to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal, Southern District of Florida, where he supervises Warrant Operations.

In 1996, Mr. Munchel first enlisted on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard where he served for four years.  He currently serves in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in Southern Florida.  During his twenty-four years of service he has performed an array of duties including search and rescue, port and waterway security, and criminal investigations.
